Update: Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre to re-open on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
After receiving full clearance from the Industrial Hygienist, the SLRD is able to safely re-open the Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre.
Regular hours will resume starting Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 11:00 am.
The SLRD would like to thank everyone for your patience. We ask for your continued patience and consideration as operations resume and landfill staff get back to business.
The SLRD reminds everyone that the Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre does not accept hazardous waste.

Proper disposal of materials will help ensure safety for staff and users of the landfill.
On Saturday, May 25th, 2024, SLRD staff coordinated with a Hazmat Team to attend the Lillooet Landfill site. The Hazmat team removed all the hazardous waste illegally brought to the landfill.
On Monday, May 27th, 2024, SLRD staff accompanied an Industrial Hygienist to the landfill for air quality monitoring. The SLRD is currently waiting to receive the technical memo from the Industrial Hygienist to safely re-open the landfill. The SLRD has been working closely with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy throughout this process. We understand disposal services are essential to Lillooet and area residents, more information will be shared as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience.
