Advance voting opportunities
For qualified electors of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (“SLRD”) will be held between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted, as follows:
Elector Registration
There is no pre-registration process. Qualified electors must register at the time of voting by completing an application form available at the voting place and making a declaration that you
meet the following requirements.
All Electors must be:
- be 18 years of age or older on general voting day October 17, 2026; and
- be a Canadian citizen; and
- be a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and
- not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in
an election and not otherwise disqualified by law
Resident Electors Must Also:
- be a resident of the electoral area on the day of registration.
Non-Resident Property Electors Must Also:
- be a registered owner of real property in the electoral area for at least 30 days
immediately before the day of registration.
Additional Rules for Non-Resident Property Electors:
- Property owners must be individuals and not hold the property on behalf of a
corporation or trust. - Where property has more than one owner, only one owner may register as the Non-
Resident Property Elector, with written consent of the majority of owners. (Please contact
the SLRD in advance to obtain the required consent form. The form must be signed by a
majority of the property owners. Unsigned or incomplete consent forms cannot be accepted).
In addition, in order to register at time of voting:
- Resident Electors must produce two (2) pieces of identification (at least one with a
signature). The identification must prove both residency and identity. - Non-Resident Property Electors must produce two (2) pieces of identification (at least one
with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the
property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the
majority of the property owners. - Types of Documents that will be accepted as identification:
For identification, the following classes of documents will be accepted: Driver’s Licence or BC
identification card; BC Services card (with photo or without photo); a document, issued by the
government of Canada, that certifies that the applicant is registered as an Indian under the
Indian Act (Canada); Citizenship or membership card issued by a first nation; Citizenship card
issued by Métis Nation British Columbia; Owner’s Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence
issued by ICBC; BC CareCard or BC Gold CareCard; Ministry of Social Development and
Economic Security Request for Continued Assistance Form SDES8; Social Insurance Number
card; Citizenship Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada; property tax notice;
credit card or debit card; or utility bill (electricity, natural gas, water, telephone, cable).
Election officials must accept the above-listed identification documents and may also accept
other forms of documents that provide evidence satisfactory to them (such as valid current
passport).
Mail Ballot Voting
Qualified electors wishing to vote by mail may apply online at
SLRD.bc.ca/2026elections/voter-information or, contact the SLRD Election Office at
election@slrd.bc.ca or 604-894-6371. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on
Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Completed mail ballot packages must be received by the Chief Election Officer by the
applicable deadline in order to be counted. Return instructions and deadlines will be

General Voting day
General Voting Day will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
