Official election results for Squamish-Lillooet Regional District

Pemberton, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has shared its official election results for the 2026 General Local Election.

The SLRD is governed by an 11-member Board of Directors composed of four Electoral Area Directors (Areas A, B, C and D) and seven Municipal Directors: District of Lillooet (1), Village of Pemberton (1), Resort Municipality of Whistler (2) and District of Squamish (3).

In a general local election, an electoral area director may be elected by acclamation (in the case of a single qualified candidate) or by voting (where there is more than one qualified candidate). Each Municipal Director on the SLRD Board is appointed by their respective Council from their elected members.

The 2026 General Local Election took place on Saturday, October 17. In the SLRD, two Electoral Area directors were elected by voting and two were elected by acclamation.

The official results were released at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and include:

• Electoral Area A: John Courchesne (elected by voting)
• Electoral Area B: Vivian Birch-Jones (elected by acclamation)
• Electoral Area C: Veronica Woodruff (elected by acclamation)
• Electoral Area D: Paula de Jong (elected by voting)

In Area A, the total number of ballots submitted through advance voting, mail and on general election day was 113, with 88 votes cast for Courchesne.

In Area D, the total number of ballots submitted through advance voting, mail and on general election day was 386 with 241 votes cast for de Jong.

Your participation is a vital part of a healthy and vibrant democracy."

The inaugural meeting of the SLRD Board of Directors is November 26, 2026. The election of Chair and Vice-Chair for the upcoming year will also take place at that meeting.
