Pemberton Meadows residents: Feedback on Slow Food Cycle road closures urgently requested

A partial road closure has been proposed for the upcoming Slow Food Cycle.

The road closure would close Pemberton Meadows Road, from Taylor Road to just past the Hurley turn-off, from 10am to 2pm, on Sunday August 21, to any vehicle traffic, with the exception of slow moving farm traffic.

The SLRD wants to reach out to the resident and agricultural community of the Pemberton Valley, to gauge your response to the proposed road closure.

Continuing with the status quo is not an option. This arrangement was negotiated yesterday as the most acceptable option by Tourism Pemberton, the Village of Pemberton, the SLRD, and Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, after several weeks of negotiations around the traffic management plan, and it's the only option on the table.

As such, despite the late stage, if the road closure is not in force, the event will not be permitted to proceed.

Also, given that the event is 3 weeks away, we would appreciate your urgent attention and response to this.

We have compiled a brief survey at: /slowfoodcycleclosure

Please ensure your opinions are logged via the survey. Social media engagement is valuable, but the survey represents the official channel for feedback to be taken into account. We want to gain as accurate a picture of the community sentiment on this matter as possible.

If the Pemberton Meadows community elects to support the closure this year, the SLRD undertakes to conduct more vigorous stakeholder engagement and discussions well in advance of next year’s possible event.
