Notice of Public Hearing Waiver - Electoral Area C

Pursuant to Section 464 of the Local Government Act this is to provide notice of intent of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District to amend the Electoral Area C Zoning Bylaw No. 765, 2002, in a manner consistent with the Electoral Area C Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 689, 1999.

Public notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 467 of the Local Government Act that a Public Hearing is being waived regarding the following bylaw:

  1. Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Electoral Area C Zoning Bylaw No. 765, 2002, Amendment Bylaw No. 1917-2025

Purpose of Bylaw No. 1917-2025
Bylaw No. 1917-2025 is focused on text amendments to the bylaw in order to ensure that information is current and improve the ability of users to navigate permitted uses in the bylaw. The list below summarizes key amendments. For a comprehensive list, please see the staff report and bylaw on the SLRD website or at the SLRD office. 

  • Revising the definition of bed and breakfast to clarify that this use is not permitted in accessory dwelling units/carriage homes 
  • Revising the definition of camping unit to clarify that this does not include yurts or cabins 
  • Adding provisions for emergency shelter use in most zones
  • Updating numbering in the bylaw
  • Revising the existing Ponderosa Estates zone so that it better reflects the original Land Use Contract

As the proposed zoning amendment is consistent with the Official Community Plan, the SLRD may waive the holding of a public hearing on the proposed bylaw. The area covered by Bylaw No.1917-2025 is the entirety of Electoral Area C. 

Information and Submissions
A copy of the proposed bylaw and relevant background documents may be inspected at the Regional District office, 1350 Aster Street, Pemberton, BC, during office hours 8:00 am to 4:00 pm from August 8 to October 21, 2025 not including weekends and statutory holidays or on the SLRD website.  

Written submissions (mail or email) must be received at the SLRD office no later than 
4:00 pm Tuesday October 21, 2025.

The SLRD Board will be considering first reading of Amendment Bylaw 1917-2025 at the October 22, 2025 SLRD Board meeting. All persons who believe that their interest in the property is affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to present written submissions respecting matters contained in the bylaw. Written submissions must be addressed to “SLRD Board of Directors,” and include your name and community of residence. Until 4:00 pm on October 21, 2025, written submissions will be received at the following:
