New Reusable Wood Program
This new pilot program aims to divert reusable wood from the landfill and give it a second life though creative DIY projects across the community. Listed accepted materials that meet requirements can be dropped off at a reduced tipping fee compared to wood waste destined for disposal, and community members can pick up materials at no cost.

Asbestos disposal requires prior approval by the SLRD. Please submit a completed Asbestos Declaration and Acknowledgment Form to utilities@slrd.bc.ca. Un-tested pre-1990 and non-date stamped drywall is accepted as Asbestos Contaminated Waste and requires an approved Asbestos Declration and Acknowledgement Disposal Form.
For safety reasons, all products must be in the original container and have their original label intact to be accepted by the program. Products may not be leaking or improperly sealed.
Pesticides
Liquid, solid and aerosol pesticides. The maximum container size is 10 litres. The maximum aerosol container size is 680g / 24oz.
To be accepted, pesticides must have:
the poison symbol (skull and crossbones)
the Pest Control Product (PCP) number
the word ‘domestic’ on the label
Flammable liquids (including gasoline)
Liquid and aerosol flammables. They must display the flammable symbol, or a phrase similar to “keep away from open spark or flame”.
Gasoline will be accepted only in a ULC-approved gas can or jerry can. For safety reasons, the gasoline container cannot be returned to you at drop-off.

The maximum container size is 10 litres. The maximum aerosol container size is 680g / 24oz. The maximum container size for gasoline is 25 litres.

Swimming pool and hot tub chemicals (eg. pucks, pH adjustors)
Unidentifiable, unknown, unlabelled, and non-original containers
The Lillooet Recycling Centre accepts the following items for recycling in partnership with various BC Extended Producer Responsibility programs.

Only CLEAN and DRY recyclables will be accepted. Dirty and wet recyclable materials contaminate streams, resulting in materials not being accepted for recycling programs.
Undamaged: no moisture, cracks, warping, mould, rotting, etc.
No adhesives jointing, fastener or hardware
No preservatives, stains, paint, laminates or treatment.
No assembled or joined wood – pallets exempt.
No MDF, particle board or other engineered wood products – plywood exempt.
Participants must read the user acknowledgement:
“All persons present upon the premises shall indemnify and save harmless the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD), its elected officials, officers, employees, servants and agents from and against all losses, claims, demands, damages, actions, causes of action, fines, penalties, liens, costs and expenses the person may sustain or incur at any time arising directly or indirectly by reason of negligent acts, errors or omissions or willful misconduct of the SLRD or any agent, employee, director or officer of the SLRD, including any injury to or death of any person or any damage to any person or property, whether deliberate, accidental or through negligence.”
A tipping fee applies to yard waste that requires chipping.
Tipping Fees
Tipping fees are charged for certain materials that you bring to the facility in order to cover the operating costs of the facility and the cost of recycling the items.
The increase in tipping fees supports the financial sustainability of landfill operations by advancing full cost recovery, reinforcing the user-pay principle, and helping to ensure the long-term operational and environmental viability of the waste management system.
