Work on the Telford Bridge Replacement Project is proceeding on schedule. The project is 80% complete and should be ready by March 11, 2017 as planned.
The formwork is complete and the cast ballast wall and wingwalls are complete. Bearing plates have been installed and grouted, and the bearings have been welded. The bailey bridge has been removed and the Acrow bridge structure has been installed.
Deck stringers and timber decking will be installed this week! Here are some photos showing the progress to date.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has advised that the Telford Bridge Replacement Project is requiring a construction extension - and extension of the full closure of the Douglas Trail/Highline Road - until Saturday, March 11th, 2017.
This extension is required in order for the project to accommodate foundation engineering challenges.
Currently, the micro piles and foundations are complete, the Acrow bridge structure is completely launched and, in the coming few weeks, the crew will be working hard to form and pour the ballast and wing walls, deck the bridge and complete the necessary road works.
This structure is located on the Highline Road at the crossing of Connell Creek approximately 15km North East of D’arcy and 14km South West of Seton Portage on the Highline Road. This is a complete road closure with no traffic (pedestrian or vehicular) allowed at this crossing. Residents on either side of the structure will be required to use Road 40 and Highway 99 during this time.
The Telford Bridge Replacement is a necessary project to address present safety concerns, accommodate legal loading and increase vehicle widths.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in constructing a safer structure for this challenging area,

Background:
The Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure (MOTI) is currently replacing the Telford Bridge over Connel Creek, located on the Douglas Trail Road (formerly called the Highline Road) about 13 km southwest of Seton Portage (SLRD Area B) and 14 km north of D'Arcy (SLRD Area C).
The Douglas Trail Road (commonly known as the Highline Road) has been closed to all traffic - pedestrian and vehicule - at the location of the Telford Bridge since 1 December 2016.
The Highline will remain closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to take about 3 months. A detour bridge at the site is not possible due to the narrow width of the road and the restricted work space.
The official completion date for the project was 28 February, 2017, but it is now anticipated that it might go until 11 March, 2017.
Detour Routes:
Residents on either side of the structure will be required to use Road 40 and Highway 99 during this time.
No pedestrian or vehicle traffic will be permitted for the duration of the project. Residents on the north side of Connel Creek (Seton Portage side) will be required to use Mission Mountain Road to Road 40 and on to Lillooet. Residents on the south side of Connel Creek (D'Arcy side) will need to travel south through D'Arcy to access Pemberton Portage Road.
