Projects funded through Community Works Fund
Pemberton, BC – Projects recently completed in Electoral Area C of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District are improving service and safety in the community.
Approved by the SLRD Board, the projects, totaling $300,000, were funded entirely through Electoral Area C Community Works Funds, at no cost to local area residents.
The Devine water system project ($30,000), included the installation of a propane generator with an automatic on/off switch which will provide for continuation of services during power outages, ensuring safe drinking water and reducing operator time. These funds were also used to replace the end-of-life reservoir solar power system for the water reservoir control panel. This project was completed in January 2025.
The Collins Road water main replacement project ($270,000) was completed in late 2024, providing greater fire flow capacity and fire flow protection through increased diameter pipe and additional fire hydrants, improving water service and safety for properties on the west side of Collins Road.
The project was awarded to Casey Jackson Heavy Equipment Services Ltd. and involved upgrading the water main and installing two fire hydrants on the west side of Collins Road. The project started in September 2024 and was completed in November 2024.
“We are grateful for these funds that are available for projects like the Collins Road water main project and the Devine water system project that improve safety and services for our communities,” said SLRD Board Chair, Jen Ford.
The Community Works Fund is delivered to all local governments in British Columbia through a direct annual allocation to support local priorities. CWF is based on a per capita formula with a funding floor, and is delivered twice annually.
