Líl'wat Nation

The Líl'wat Nation is a separate and distinct nation with linguistic, cultural, familial and political ties to the St'át'imc Nation. Lil'wat Nation Traditional Territory extends south to Rubble Creek, north to Gates Lake, east to the Upper Stein Valley and west to the coastal inlets of the Pacific Ocean. This is close to 800,000 ha of beautiful, resource rich land that includes temperate coastal regions, old growth rainforest and arid areas.

An Interior Salish people, the Lílwat7úl have called their territory home since time immemorial. The majority of Lílwat7úl live near beautiful Mount Currie, known as T'szil in Uclwalmicwts, the language of the Lílwat7úl.

Although the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) does not provide services directly to the Líl'wat Nation, the organization is committed to strengthening relations between the two governments.
