The SLRD received a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) application from George Lacny at SKY Helicopters Inc. on behalf of the Taicheng Development Corporation. The application proposes two helipads and a temporary office/guest lounge structure in order to run helicopter tourism activities from the Taicheng South Britannia property into the backcountry. The application for TUP #58 is separate from the application for TUP #57 though there are some shared aspects and overlapping issues and information. SKY Helicopters would locate its office/guest lounge and related parking within the boundaries of the TUP #57 market and parking area. The helipads would be located further south (~300 m) from the parking area and over 400 m from the market area.
The SLRD Board denied the application at the June 27, 2018 meeting.
Community Meeting
A community meeting was hosted by the applicants for Temporary Use Permits #57 and #58. The community meeting was held at the Britannia Beach Community Hall at 7 pm on Wednesday May 2, 2018.
