Community Updates for Riley Creek Wildfire
The SLRD has issued an Evacuation Order for properties in the Texas Creek vicinity due to the Riley Creek Wildfire (K70659), based on a recommendation from the BC Wildfire Service.
The Evacuation Order applies to some areas previously under an Evacuation Alert. Anyone within the Evacuation Order area must leave immediately and follow the directions provided in the Order.
The existing Evacuation Alert has also been expanded to include additional properties. Residents within the Evacuation Alert area are not being asked to leave at this time but should be prepared to do so on short notice if conditions worsen.
Due to the BC Day long weekend, lodging options are extremely limited. If possible, please make arrangements to stay with friends or family outside the evacuation area.
If you require Emergency Support Services (ESS), please self-register through one of the following methods: use the Evacuee Registration & Assistance tool ess.gov.bc.ca; or report to the ESS Reception Centre and group lodging:
McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre 1655 Island Parkway, Kamloops, BC V2B 6Y9
Group lodging is available immediately at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre and ESS registration will open Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 09:00 hrs.
Impacted or concerned agriculture producers are asked to please contact:
Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation.
Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on a leash.
Further information will be posted at www.slrd.bc.ca/eoc and notices through the SLRD Alert Messaging service. Subscribe to SLRD Alert for free at www.slrd.bc.ca/slrdalert to receive emergency notifications via email, text messages, and voicemail.
The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has issued an Expanded Evacuation Alert for properties in Electoral Area B due to the Riley Creek Wildfire (K70659), Electoral Area B, based on a recommendation from the BC Wildfire Service.
This Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible before evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to rapidly changing conditions.
Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside of the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g., insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependents and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.
Prepare to move people who may need additional time to evacuate, children and/or neighbours who would require assistance.
If you require assistance, call the SLRD Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at 604-384-7357.
Impacted or concerned agriculture producers are asked to please contact SLRD Agricultural Coordinator at 604-384-7329.
