The Youth/Seniors Centre (also known as the REC), located behind the Pemberton & District Community Centre, is undergoing renovations this summer.
The REC is a stand-alone facility with a kitchen, large-screen television with surround sound, a ping-pong and billiard table, and the capacity to host 100 people. The venue currently hosts events such as Pemberton Youth Centre drop-in nights, Seed to Table and Pemberton Valley Seniors Society Activities.
The building is used frequently by the community, and the need for renovations was identified when a failing exterior of the building became apparent. As a result, the SLRD Board passed a resolution at its meeting on June 28, 2017 to amend the SLRD's 2017 - 2021 Financial Plan to enable the SLRD to borrow up to $43,100 to renovate the exterior of the building.
The upgrades will include new siding, a steel roof, fresh paint and updated signage.
The renovations are expected to occur throughout August and September, 2017.
