SLRD expands the use of Cloudpermit to include development applications and zoning bylaw updates

Expansion enhances efficiency and transparency

Pemberton, BC – The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has expanded its use of Cloudpermit, a cloud-based software system that supports the building and development process, to now include the management of development permits, temporary use permits and variance permit applications. The expansion provides a more user-friendly process with increased accessibility and transparency, while improving efficiencies and workflow processes for the SLRD.

The SLRD first implemented Cloudpermit for building permits and inspection requests in May 2023, and the platform has since helped streamline services and communication. With the addition of planning and development application capabilities, most public-facing services provided by the Building and Planning department can now be performed online. Through the expanded program, building and planning department processes are streamlined, and transparency is increased with the capability of tracking submissions in real-time, communicating directly with SLRD staff through the platform. The centralized process reduces duplication and administrative delays. Paper applications remain available upon request.

"Expanding the Cloudpermit service reflects the SLRD’s commitment to modernizing our services to best meet the needs of the people relying on these services,” said SLRD Board Chair Jen Ford. “Projects like the Cloudpermit expansion align with the Board’s strategic priority of Responsible Governance and Service Excellence and allow us to provide faster service, with greater transparency, better support and improved efficiencies.”
