Zoning/OCP Amendment Application

Whistler Sport Legacies has submitted a rezoning application for the Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) site in the Callaghan Valley.  The application seeks to update the existing zoning to reflect the current uses rather than obsolete 2010 Winter Olympics related material.  Due to the housekeeping focus of this rezoning application, it is being incorporated into the larger Electoral Area D zoning review project.  The WOP related zoning amendments are included in the BC3 (Backcountry Commercial 3) zone of the proposed Area D Zoning Bylaw No. 1350-2016.  The staff reports and bylaws included below will be the Area D Zoning Bylaw No. 1350-2016 as it moves forward with the WOP specific zoning amendments as part of that bylaw rather than a separate amendment bylaw.

Current Status

The Whistler Olympic Park zoning amendment, as part of Zoning Bylaw No. 1350-2016, received 1st reading at the February 17, 2016 SLRD Board meeting.  Referrals have been sent to various First Nations, local governments, and provincial agencies.  The Whistler Olympic Park zoning amendment, as part of Zoning Bylaw No. 1350-2016, received 2nd reading at the April 27, 2016 SLRD Board meeting, the public hearing was held on June 16, 2016, and the bylaw received 3rd reading at the June 22, 2016 SLRD Board meeting.

Staff Reports

The following staff reports and bylaws provide an update on the application.  The WOP specific material is incorporated in the BC3 (Backcountry Commercial 3) zone of Bylaw No. 1350-2016.
