Pursuant to Section 95 (1) of the BC Emergency and Disaster Management Act, an EVACUATION ORDER has been issued by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District due to immediate danger to public safety caused by the Riley Creek Wildfire in the Texas Creek area effective Aug 7, 2026 at 1200 hrs. Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other applicable agencies will be expediting this action.

This EVACUATION ORDER is in effect for the following properties in the Texas Creek area uphill of Texas Creek Rd:

FOR YOUR SAFETY YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY - EVACUATE NORTH VIA TEXAS-CREEK ROAD TOWARDS LILLOOET

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • If this is not your primary residence, you should return to your primary residence, if you are able to do so.
  • Accommodation in the area is limited. Make arrangements to stay with family and friends, if possible.
  • Preregister for Emergency Support Services online at: https://ess.gov.bc.ca/
  • If Emergency Support Services (ESS) are required, contact:
    • In person:   Friday, August 7: 1:00 p.m. -- 6:00 p.m. at the Lillooet & District REC Centre, 930 Main St., Lillooet, BC. Phone: 250-256-8524 
    • If group lodging is required: Kamloops ESS Reception Centre, McArthur Island, 1655 Island Parkway
      • Friday, August 7: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
      • Saturday, August 8: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
      • Sunday, August 9: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

  • Impacted or concerned agriculture producers are asked to please contact the SLRD Agricultural Coordinator directly at: 604-384-7329
  • For other urgent public safety concerns, please contact the 24/7 SLRD-EOC on-call Duty Manager at: 604-384-7357
  • Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation.
  • Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on a leash.
