Based on consultation with the BC Wildfire Service, the SLRD has assessed that potential danger to life and health due to the Pear Lake wildfire has subsided to the degree that the current Evacuation Order, issued pursuant to Section 95 (1) of the BC Emergency and Disaster Management Act, by the Squamish Lillooet Regional District on August 29, 2026 at 1700 hrs, is no longer required and is being downgraded to an Evacuation Alert.

The Evacuation Alert for Pear Lake Wildfire C40983 declared on August 31, 2026 at 1700 hrs remains, as outlined on the attached map. Effective September 3, 2026, at 1700, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has downgraded the Evacuation Order to an Evacuation Alert applying to the following properties:

Safely return home and coordinate the safe return of your animals or livestock, if necessary.

If you have received emergency accommodations through an Emergency Support Services (ESS) provider, these accommodations are no longer offered once this Evacuation Order is rescinded. However, existing supports may extend beyond the date of the Evacuation Order rescindment. Please contact your ESS provider to confirm when your supports will end:

Community Updates for Pear Lake Wildfire

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has issued an Expanded Evacuation Order for properties in Electoral Area B due to the Pear Lake Wildfire (C40983), based on a recommendation from the BC Wildfire Service.

The Expanded Evacuation Order replaces the Evacuation Alert previously in effect for these properties. Anyone in the Evacuation Order area must leave immediately.

What residents need to know

Anyone within the Evacuation Order area must leave immediately and should follow the directions provided in the Evacuation Order. Do not enter the Evacuation Order area.
The Pavilion-Clinton Road will be closed through the Evacuation Order area, with access restrictions in place to prevent travel into the affected area.

BC Parks has also closed the Pear Lake area of Edge Hills Park, in coordination with the BC Wildfire Service, due to wildfire risk and concerns for public and worker safety.

Evacuation Alert issued in Electoral Area B for the Pear Lake Wildfire (C40983)

Based on recommendations from the BC Wildfire Service, an Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District due to the Pear Lake Wildfire (C40983) burning out of control in the Kelly Lake area.

Because of the potential danger to life and health, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert for the following properties as outlined in the attached map.

An Evacuation Alert has been issued to prepare you to evacuate your premises should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible before evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to rapidly changing conditions.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

Pre-register for Emergency Support Services online at: https://ess.gov.bc.ca/
Locate all family members and designate a meeting area outside of the evacuation area, should an Evacuation Order be called while separated.
Pack essential items such as government-issued ID, medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (e.g., insurance, credit, and mortgage information), immediate care needs for dependants and, if time and space permits, keepsakes for quick departure.
Prepare to move people who may need additional time to evacuate, children and/or neighbours who would require assistance.
If you require assistance, call the SLRD Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at 604-384- 7357.
Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
Arrange transportation and accommodations for all your household members, if possible, and fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating.
