ISSUED: July 22, 2026 at 20:00hrs

Pursuant to Section 95 (1) of the BC Emergency and Disaster Management Act, an Evacuation Order has been issued by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District due to immediate danger to life safety caused by the risk of wildfire in the South Chilcotin Mountains area in Electoral Area A.

This Evacuation Order is in effect for the following areas of Electoral Area A:

  • SLRD properties northwest, north, and northeast of Tyaughton Lake Road, including Mud Lake Road
  • Areas within the South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park, including Spruce Lake and other recreation sites
  • All other areas as outlined in the included map.

YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY

EVACUATE EAST VIA THE LILLOOET-PIONEER RD (HWY 40) TOWARDS LILLOOET OR SOUTH VIA THE HURLEY RIVER FSR TOWARDS PEMBERTON

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • If this is not your primary residence, you should return to your primary residence, if you are able to do so.
  • Accommodation in the area is limited. Make arrangements to stay with family and friends, if possible.
  • If Emergency Support Services are required, please contact: The Canadian Red Cross 24/7 Duty Line at 1-888-800-6493
  • If you need transportation assistance from the area, contact the SLRD-EOC on-call Duty Manager at: 604-384-7357.
  • Impacted or concerned agriculture producers are asked to please contact SLRD Agricultural Coordinator at 604-384-7329.

  • Shut off all gas and electrical appliances other than refrigerators and freezers.
  • Close all windows and doors. Close gates (latch) but do not lock.
  • Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation.
  • Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on a leash.
