EVACUATION ALERT RESCINDED – SLRD AREA C

Based on consultation with the BC Wildfire Service, the SLRD has assessed that potential
danger to life and health due to the Signal Hill Wildfire (V30852) has subsided to the degree that the current Evacuation Alert is no longer required.
Effective July 19, 2026, at 1200 hr, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has rescinded the Evacuation Alert applying to SLRD properties located the following area:
• Collins Road to One Mile Lake to the Lillooet River.
• All SLRD properties as outlined in the attached map.
The Evacuation Order declared by the Village of Pemberton for One Mile Lake remains in place.
Should conditions change, an Evacuation Alert and/or Evacuation Order will be reinstated as necessary.

Community Updates
The Evacuation Alert previously issued by the SLRD due to the Signal Hill wildfire (V30852) and affecting properties on Collins Road to One Mile Lake Road to Lillooet River has been rescinded. In addition, the Village of Pemberton has rescinded its previous Evacuation Alert in regard to this fire.
There are currently no Evacuation Alerts in Place in the SLRD or Village of Pemberton in regard to the Signal Hill Wildfire (V30852).
The decision to rescind the evacuation alerts was made in consultation with BC Wildfire Service based on the potential danger to life and health having subsided. BC Wildfire Service crews remain onsite to continue their wildfire response efforts.
The Evacuation ORDER issued by the Village of Pemberton for the One Mile Lake Park area remains in effect to support BC Wildfire Service operations and ensure public safety. The public is asked to continue avoiding One Mile Lake Park and the surrounding trail network, while firefighting operations remain underway.
Although wildfire conditions have greatly improved, the community is asked to continue to monitor official sources for the latest updates and continue to take the time now to prepare for potential emergencies.

We extend our sincere thanks to BC Wildfire Service crews, the Pemberton Fire Department, emergency responders, and everyone supporting the wildfire response. We also send out sincere thanks to residents for their continued patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout this event as crews continue making excellent progress toward full containment of the fire.
BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) reports continued good progress on the Signal Hill Wildfire (V30852) following successful operations yesterday and today. This fire is now classified as Being Held on the BCWS Dashboard.
At this time, BCWS is not recommending any changes to current evacuation measures out of an abundance of caution. An Evacuation Alert remains in effect for affected properties in the Village of Pemberton and SLRD Electoral Area C. Residents are not being asked to leave but should continue to remain prepared.
Crews have established containment along much of the fire perimeter and continue working to strengthen this perimeter. By the end of today, BCWS expects to have containment around most of the fire, with the exception of an area of steep, rocky terrain that is difficult for ground crews to access. Helicopters continue to support suppression efforts in this area.
BCWS will continue to assess the fire perimeter and changing weather conditions over the coming days. A shift toward warmer, drier conditions and changing winds is forecast, and BCWS is carefully considering these factors before making any recommendation to change evacuation measures.
The Evacuation Order for One Mile Lake Park also remains in effect. The closure of the park is crucial to support safe access for crews, aviation and ongoing wildfire response operations. Please continue to respect all closures and avoid One Mile Lake Park, Signal Hill and affected trail areas including Lumpy’s Epic, Bob’s Loop and the dyke between Airport Road and Highway 99.

BC Wildfire Update as of 10:18 a.m. on July 18, 2026 -
Our priorities are to maintain the safety of responders and the public, and to protect communities, critical infrastructure, and cultural values.
Weather and Fire Behaviour
- Overnight, fire behaviour remained minimal, aided by favourable weather conditions.
- Today (Saturday, July 18), cooler temperatures, increased relative humidity, and lower wind speeds are again conducive to subdued fire behaviour.
- Some increased fire behaviour and smoke may be visible this afternoon as temperatures rise and wind speeds increase modestly.
- While conditions are expected to remain favourable through this morning, a warming and drying trend is forecast to begin later this afternoon and into next week.
Operations
- Overnight, crews worked to bolster containment and conducted patrols to identify and suppress any spot fires. No new spot fires were found.
- Today, crews will be conducting direct attack operations on all flanks of the fire.
- Helicopters will continue bucketing on hot spots and addressing steep, inaccessible terrain along the Green River.
Public safety
Highway 99 is open, however; no stopping is permitted within the wildfire zone. We urge drivers to check DriveBC before leaving.

Current evacuation measures for areas of Electoral Area C of the SLRD and Village of Pemberton remain unchanged as BC Wildfire Service crews continue to respond to the Signal Hill Wildfire (V30852). Currently, BCWS is not recommending any changes to the current evacuation measures:
- An Evacuation Alert remains in effect for affected properties in the Village of Pemberton and SLRD Electoral Area C. Residents are not being asked to leave but should remain prepared to evacuate if conditions change.
- An Evacuation Order remains in effect for One Mile Lake Park to restrict public access and provide a safe working area for emergency responders. There are no residential properties within the Evacuation Order area.
Today, BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) reports that crews made good progress on sections of the fire closest to the Village of Pemberton. Sixteen firefighters worked on the fire during the day, supported by five helicopters. Eight firefighters will remain on scene overnight to hold and continue the work completed today.
BCWS’s focus is on limiting fire growth towards Pemberton. Additional crews, including the Pemberton Fire Department and resources are being brought in to support operations over the coming days and structure protection equipment is in place should it be needed. At this time nearby structures are not currently at risk, and defending these values remains the primary objective of assigned resources.
We are monitoring a shift in weather and the potential for lightning and increased winds over this evening and into tomorrow and Saturday.
Please respect trail closures in areas around the wildfire including One Mile Lake Park, Signal Hill and the dyke trail from Airport Road to Highway 99.

- Prepare to move people who may need additional time to evacuate, children and/or neighbours who would require assistance.
- If you require assistance, call the SLRD Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at 604-384-7357.
- Prepare to take pets with you and move livestock to a safe area (if possible).
- Arrange transportation and accommodations for all your household members, if possible, and fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles.
- Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating.

Current Status
- Discovered on July 15th near Signal Hill, 5km away from Highway 99
- Smoke may be highly visible from Highway 99 (Portage Road) and surrounding communities along with activity from firefighting aircraft
- Multiple crews are responding with support from helicopters and an air tanker
BC Wildfire Service crews remain on scene overnight, supported by aerial resources and additional personnel. Firefighters will continue working to contain the wildfire through the night and into tomorrow.
Smoke may remain highly visible from Highway 99 (Portage Road) and surrounding communities. Residents may also observe firefighting aircraft operating in the area.
- This wildfire is burning in heavy timber, ranging from Rank 2 to 3
- Nearby structures are not currently at risk, and defending these values remains the primary objective of assigned resources
An Evacuation Alert was issued on July 15 for affected properties in the Village of Pemberton and SLRD Electoral Area C. The alert has been issued to provide residents with time to prepare should conditions change. Residents are not being asked to leave at this time.
