EVACUATION ORDER – AREA C, Place Glacier Outburst Flood Risk

Pursuant to Section 95 (1) of the BC Emergency and Disaster Management Act, an Evacuation Order has been issued by the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District due to immediate danger to life safety caused by the risk of overland flooding and debris flood in the Poole Creek and Gates Lake area in Electoral Area C.

Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other applicable agencies will be expediting this action. This Evacuation Order is in effect for SLRD properties in the following areas of
Electoral Area C:

YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY - EVACUATE SOUTH VIA PEMBERTON PORTAGE ROAD TOWARDS PEMBERTON

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

  • If this is not your primary residence, you should return to your primary residence, if you are able to do so.
  • Accommodation in the area is limited. Make arrangements to stay with family and friends, if possible.
  • Pre-register for Emergency Support Services online at: https://ess.gov.bc.ca/
  • If emergency support services are required, proceed to: Pemberton & District Community Centre- Room “B” Upstairs, 7390 Cottonwood St, Pemberton, BC V0N 2L0. Centre is open between 10AM and 4PM on June 25 and June 26. For assistance outside of these hours, please contact: The Canadian Red Cross 24/7 Duty Line at 1-888-800-6493
  • If you need transportation assistance from the area, contact the SLRD-EOC on-call Duty Manager at: 604-384-7357.
  • Gather your family and, if you have room, take a neighbour or someone needing transportation.
    Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on a leash.
