This page will provide up-to-date information about construction activities related to the Catiline Creek Debris Flow Mitigation Project at Lillooet Lake Estates, located in Electoral Area C. Please check back regularly for updates.

Construction updates

June 22, 2026

The following are activities underway or anticipated at the project site at Lillooet Lake Estates in the coming weeks:

  • The bridge replacement by the Ministry of Forests is complete, and traffic is being directed over the new bridge from Monday June 22, 2026. More information on the bridge replacement and traffic flow on the In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road (FSR) is available in the road updates section below. 
  • The temporary bypass will be decommissioned and the temporary bridge removed by the end of June.
  • Excavation of Catiline Creek above the FSR and through the FSR right of way
  • Berm construction above the FSR on either side of Catiline Creek
  • Rock trucks hauling excavated materials around 7.5 k 
  • Rock breaking
  • Dust control
  • Open burning at the project site has ended. Burning activities will continue at a later date, if conditions are assessed to be suitable. Updates will be shared on this website and the SLRD’s social media channels as needed.
  • Lower section of Gate 5 road realignment construction paused until further notice.

In-SHUCK-ch Forest Service Road Impacts

June 22, 2026

 

1. 5.5 km Road Lift Project - Road Closures Required

Location: 5.0 – 6.0 km

Dates: July 7th – July 24th, 2026, 

Times: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday

What’s happening: 

The Ministry of Forests will be carrying out a road lift project between 5.0 – 6.0km in collaboration with the Catiline Creek Debris Flow Mitigation Project. The purpose of the project is to improve ditchline depth through the bottom of a dip in the road and reduce the extent and grades of the hills on either side of the dip.

What to Expect:
  • Rock trucks and dump trucks hauling excavating material from Catiline Creek (7.5km) to the road lift worksite (5.5km).
  • The worksite will be active Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
  • 1-hour road closures are required to accommodate the placement and compaction of the material on the road. Openings will be on the hour each hour (9:00am, 10:00am, etc.)
  • Traffic control workers will be stationed on either side of the worksite (at approximately 5.0km and 6.0km).
  • Dust control measures will be in place during this short-term hauling, both on the FSR between 5.5 k and 7.5 k and at the project sites. 
Who is involved: 
  • Hauling of materials is by the SLRD’s contractors Coastal Mountain Excavations Ltd. (CME) as part of the Catiline Creek.
  • The road lift project is by the Ministry of Forests' contractor Lizzie Bay.

2. New FSR Bridge at Catiline Creek Open to Traffic

Location: 7.5 km at Catiline Creek

What’s happening: 

The Ministry of Forests have completed the installation of a new permanent bridge over Catiline Creek. 

Dates: 
  • Traffic will be directed across the new bridge from Monday June 22, 2026.
What to Expect:
  • Road conditions at the Catiline Creek bridge have changed slightly. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and be aware of the updated alignment, and longer bridge deck. 
  • The temporary bypass will be decommissioned and the temporary bridge removed by the end of June. 

3. Increased Construction Traffic on FSR around Lillooet Lake Estates 

Location: 7.5 km 
Dates: February 2026 through to end of project.

What’s happening:

Construction of the Catiline Creek debris flow structure at Lillooet Lake Estates at 7.5 km. Construction activities including excavation of the creek channel, berm construction and trucking of excavated materials will be happening near the FSR. 

What to expect:
  • Rock trucks hauling excavated materials around 7.5 km 
  • Increased industrial traffic, with contractors’ vehicles and equipment in the area 
  • Additional traffic control measures including signage

Safety reminders

  • Follow the direction of flaggers and signage, and drive with caution.
  • Give trucks extra space, especially on hills and corners.
  • Avoid stopping within signed work zones unless directed.
